STMicroelectronics and Leti, a CEA Tech institute, officially announced their partnership under the IRT Nanoelec PowerGaN program, which also includes partner Schneider Electric. STMicroelectronics and Leti plan to scale up the fabrication of GaN-based power components on silicon.
GaN technology can effectively respond to demand for power components for high-power, high-energy applications for the automotive and other industries.
The technology will be transferred to STMicroelectronics’ 200 mm production lines with a target manufacturing date of 2020.
