European Cyber Security Awareness Week (CSAW 2017)

Grenoble Institute of Technology-Esisar (with the support of the Grenoble Institute of Technology Foundation) and the LCIS lab joined forces with NYU to organize the European edition of Cyber Security Awareness Week (CSAW) 2017 from November 9–11, 2017 in Valence near Grenoble (http://csaw-europe.com).

Cyber Security Awareness Week (CSAW) is the largest international cybersecurity event for students. The goal is to bring together students from high school through to PhD candidates to delve deeper into cybersecurity.

The CSAW program includes six competitions, talks, and a forum where corporate, governmental, and institutional organizations can promote their activities and meet with students.

The 90 European finalists representing ten nationalities and 20 universities across Europe travelled to Valence to participate in four competitions: Capture the Flag, Embedded Security Challenge, Applied Research, and High School Forensics.

The 250 attendees cheered on the competitors and took advantage of the trade show, talks, and other activities:
⦁ A cybersecurity trade show where the finalists and visitors could meet with the event’s partner companies
⦁ A program of seven talks on cybersecurity in general, including on technical and legal aspects; the expert speakers, representing universities and businesses, tailored their talks to a broad audience
⦁ Educational activities on cybersecurity (an introduction to Capture the Flag and a security quiz game) organized by Esisar’s cybersecurity club, Krhacken.
