STMicroelectronics announced that it had launched production of new power components at its Tours, France plant. The components will target embedded energy systems for the automotive market.
A new 100 sq. m building at STMicroelectronics’ Tours, France plant will be entirely dedicated to the fabrication of GaN (gallium nitride) power components on 200 mm wafers using a technology developed in part under an IRT Nanoelec program.
STMicroelectronics is targeting a range of markets that use power components, including automotive, space, Industry 4.0, and 5G telecommunications.
