Recycling E-Waste Workshop

On 16 April 2026, the Human Capital and Training Engineering programme at IRT Nanoelec and the European GreenChips-EDU project organised a unique workshop on the recycling of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) for students from Grenoble INP-UGA and GEM*.

The aim was to bring together 60 students to address environmental, economic, regulatory and technological challenges. Each group had to devise a solution to the following problem: “A European city aims to reduce its electronic waste by 50 per cent within five years. How can a more efficient, sustainable and equitable recycling or recovery model be designed?”

The session combined presentations by experts, notably Jean-Pierre Raskin, a professor at UCLouvain and holder of the research chair for the transition to more sustainable electronics (UGA, in collaboration with the CEA, the CNRS and Nanoelec), a role-play exercise, and group brainstorming and co-creation sessions.
